#21 – The Rest of the Year

33% Completed!

Well how about that! Finally learned how to post a picture. Posts might start getting more interesting. This is the retirement home under construction back in early July. We’re now about 50% done.

Was a busy week for the blog, not so much on volume of visits, but rather in quality. First, one of my brothers visited the blog and sent me a note on the latest post., Then I had an old high school classmate find it- someone I probably haven’t seen or talked to in 45 years. We got a quick catch up email dialogue going, and I’m looking forward to a phone call conversation this weekend. He’s already retired- I’m hoping he’ll leave a couple of comments based on his experiences on some of the content.

I was going to bring up the Medicare subject on this post, but that’s going to have to wait. Instead, I’m going to provide a couple updates to the journey towards my retirement. The concept of doing my full time job for a year once we get moved to our retirement home has flown out the window. We’re going to retire at the end of 2021 (although I haven’t put the retirement package in just yet- hope to finish it this weekend). Furthermore, I had conversations about some part time work recently, so we’re going to think through that, then get a few more details. That decision probably won’t be made until retirement is imminent. I have to admit, the shortened timeline and all the corresponding life changes are getting us pretty excited.

In the meantime, I’ll try to get some more pictures up on the blog. It’s a struggle for this old dog to learn new technical tricks. Took me 45 minutes of making mistakes before I was able to put this picture on the blog’s front page, and even then it’s not where I want it to be.
